You might consider this one of the most important questions when dealing with this type of phenomenon. Unfortunately, it is also one of the hardest to answer. There is really no straight-forward answer to this question. There are so many sides to it that a person hardly has time to research all areas that could possibly link directly or indirectly to the UFO phenomenon. There are so many questions that have no easy answers, that it makes it very difficult for the average person to even speculate what the "big picture" might be. Then, you have the problem of just what exactly constitutes as proof? What might be enough to convince one person, may not necessarily be enough to convince everyone. What you need is what we will refer to as absolute proof. This would include anything that might be considered hard physical evidence, beyond any shadow of a doubt, that an alien or non-human intelligence is or has been in our presence.
Some say that this already exists, but only behind closed doors, far from the media and public eye. Conspiracy theories are abundant, which cry claims of alien visitation, alien abduction, government cover-ups, silenced witnesses, M.I.B.s, advanced technology, experimentation, etc... The list goes on and on. But is there really any truth to any of it? That is the burning question that we all would like to know.
Some of us already believe in UFOs and their supposed alien occupants, but still lack the absolute proof necessary to be 100% convinced that they have visited Earth. But at the same time, many people argue that every day we convict criminals on far less evidence. When your average person of traditional background first entertains the idea of alien visitors, the reaction is usually one of total disbelief. A humorous, almost laughable atmosphere can easily be created from the slightest mention of this subject with any seriousness. It's hard to break from the generally accepted view that aliens and UFOs are total nonsense, and anyone who entertains such ideas should have their head examined.
As of yet, there is no hard, physical evidence of alien visitaion available to mainstream science or the public, otherwise this would no longer be a subject of such great controversy. And to have claims, even what you might consider highly credible claims, that it exists but that you can't see it because the people in possession of it don't want you to know about it, is simply not enough. What we do have though is what we will call strong indications of an alien presence, which are largely responsible for keeping this subject alive for more then 60 years. We can categorize many of these different areas of possible evidence, or rather strong indications, into the following catagories:

Their weapon of choice, the lightsaber, is commonly recognized in popular culture. The fictional universe also contains many themes, especially influences of philosophy and religion.

| | Stargate |  | | Stargate SG-1 often abbreviated as SG-1 is a Canadian-American adventure and military science fiction television series and part of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's Stargate franchise. The show, created by Brad Wright and Jonathan Glassner, is based on the 1994 feature film Stargate by Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich. The television series was filmed in and around the city of Vancouver, Canada. In the United States, Showtime broadcast the first five seasons, from 1997 to 2002, and then the series moved to the Sci Fi Channel for its last five seasons, from 2002 to 2007. The final episode premiered on Sky1 in the United Kingdom on March 13, 2007, three months before its United States premiere. With ten seasons and 214 episodes, Stargate SG-1 surpassed The X-Files in 2007 as the longest-running North American science fiction series on television, before being surpassed by Smallville in 2011 with 218 episodes in ten seasons.

| | UFO SIGHTINGS |  | | An unidentified flying object, often abbreviated UFO or U.F.O., is an unusual apparent anomaly in the sky that is not readily identifiable to the observer as any known object, often associated with extraterrestrial life.
The acronym "UFO" was coined by Capt. Edward J. Ruppelt, who headed Project Blue Book, then the USAF's official investigation of UFOs. He wrote, "Obviously the term 'flying saucer' is misleading when applied to objects of every conceivable shape and performance. For this reason the military prefers the more general, if less colorful, name: unidentified flying objects. UFO pronounced Yoo-foe for short." Other phrases that were used officially and that predate the UFO acronym include "flying flapjack", "flying disc", "unexplained flying discs", "unidentifiable flying object", and "flying saucer".
The phrase "flying saucer" had gained widespread attention after the summer of 1947. On June 24, a civilian pilot named Kenneth Arnold reported seeing nine objects flying in formation near Mount Rainer. Arnold timed the sighting and estimated the speed of discs to be over 1,000 mph. On a sub-orbital spaceflight, a spacecraft enters space and then returns to the surface, without having gone into an orbit. For orbital spaceflights, spacecraft enter closed orbits around the Earth or around other celestial bodies. Spacecraft used for human spaceflight carry people on board as crew or passengers from start or on orbit (space stations) only, while those used for robotic space missions operate either autonomously or telerobotically. Robotic spacecraft used to support scientific research are space probes. Robotic spacecraft that remain in orbit around a planetary body are artificial satellites. Only a handful of interstellar probes, such as Pioneer 10 and 11, Voyager 1 and 2, and New Horizons, are currently on trajectories that leave our Solar System.

| Alien abduction |  | | The terms alien abduction or abduction phenomenon describe "subjectively real memories of being taken secretly against one's will by apparently nonhuman entities and subjected to complex physical and psychological procedures". People claiming to have been abducted are usually called "abductees" or "experiencers". Typical claims involve being subjected to a forced medical examination that emphasizes their reproductive system.
